One
day during the Spring , '03, a friend stopped by to tell me a
swordfish was trying to beach itself on Casey Key. I ran to the
beach and dove into the area it had been seen. Once there, I
realized it was a white marlin, a highly unusual fish to find
in our near-shore waters, especially those that shallow. A local
lifeguard and I tried to revive the fish for almost two hours,
but unfortunately, it was not well and didn't make it. I captured
his image in a fish print
before donating him to the Florida Marine Research Institute's
specimen collection
