Great Fishing

Red Tide and unpredictable weather
have made fishing in Southwest Florida a bit challenging this
summer, but Nicole and I were still able to join our friends
Jim and Wendy for some trips offshore, in search of Grouper.
We didn't get any Grouper, but we did catch these beauties!

Now Showing At . . .
| I was recently
accepted into the Art Uptown Gallery in Sarasota, Florida. Art
Uptown is a cooperative gallery of 30+ artists in a variety of
disciplines. I'm excited about the new opportunity to show my
work, and look forward to all the new folks Nicole and I will
meet along the way. If you're ever in the area, stop by to see
our stuff! Downtown Sarasota also hosts a gallery walk on the
first Friday of every month, and you can be sure to see me and
Nicole during those events as well. The Gallery's contact information
is located on our Links page. |
| Also, at the recent
Arts Day in Sarasota, several Art Uptown members participated
in a 'quick draw' event, completing paintings in 60 minutes! |

Things are going great at my new
cooperative gallery, Art Uptown. Here's my first window display. |

Here I am with my 'Flying Dolphins'
piece. |

Annual Everglades Adventure
I enjoyed great fishing, reference
gathering, and tasty seafood during my recent trip to the Everglades
with two fishing buddies. This year's catches included Snook
and Sea Trout -- we even saw Tarpon roll past the boat. Here
are just some of the white pelicans I saw:
|
They're extremely beautiful, graceful and larger than you might
think. I was so inspired that when I got back to my studio I
started two new pieces of white pelicans. . . |

Aloha to the 'Akina'
Our wonderful little 'Akina' (which means "small bite"
in Hawaiian) took us out on our last voyage in late 2005. She
provided us with many wonderful journeys, but we decided to sell
her in hopes of finding something a little bigger and more comfortable.
We had second thoughts about selling her because we caught so
many fish on that last trip -- lots of hard-fighting Jacks, Bonita,
Mackerel and Bluefish. Some literally jumped into the boat! Then
we said 'maybe this is the way to go out. . .with fond memories
and a great last adventure.' Here I am on the mighty vessel:
