Art Uptown News - Update - April 2006:
I was recently nominated for the position of Vice President of the Gallery, and later unanimously approved for the role (but, as with all Florida elections, the ballot count is suspect!). I'm looking forward to the role and the opportunity to make further impact on the Gallery's direction and success.

South Carolina Trip

In February, Nicole and I traveled to Charleston, South Carolina for the annual Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE). What a great opportunity to see many talented and inspiring wild life artists, friends and even our creative website designer!

Our New Boat!

After selling our little boat, Akina, we decided we just couldn't be without one. So, a great opportunity presented itself, and now we're enjoying a newer and bigger boat, dubbed 'Akina II'. . .

My first catch was a King Mackerel - surprisingly caught on an 8-lb. ultralight rig -- what a fight!

Here's Nicole in-between fishing action. You know the fishing is slow when you're reading the newspaper. . .

Backyard Visitors

It never ceases to amaze us how many creatures visit our back yard. We regularly see a 4-foot alligator and many herons, ibis and other birds in our lake, but were pleasantly surprised to recently see our annual visitors, the wood ducks.

They're pretty nervous, but we managed to get this shot of the male on top of the nesting house that we built for them - his markings are just gorgeous.

Here's a hawk that frequently stops by to 'rest' . We're waiting to get more pictures of our elusive otter, but have heard rumors he's in the neighborhood. . .

New Backyard Additions. . .
Here are our newest visitors. . .a family of Moor Hens.

We're waiting for the second batch of baby wood duck hatchlings!
