Posted February 1,2008:

I’ve been working a lot with large pieces so I decided to change it up and work on some 8X10s on something new for me – linen. I like the texture it provides and it has a good ‘tooth’ for the paint. Here I’ve simply laid down some paint to get started (it doesn’t look like much at this point).

I’ve put in a simple, shadowy outline to lay the foundation for the underwater scene. I’ve added some darks to create 3-dimension and shadows, and to bring out the reef and sea floor.

More darks and some sea grasses to show perspective. Also softened some edges. Now the fun part – I’ve added a green sea turtle. Usually this is the view I get when I’m diving. . .(!)

Just about done – the final image will be posted soon.
